Tips, Tricks, Known Limitations and Issues
Web SDK Web Developer Enviornment (WDE)
- Code assist functionality for QtWRT ObjectsMenu, MenuItem and ContextMenu are currently not available in code assist. You can still use these methods but they will not automatically show up in your code completion. Please consult the WDL for full API support.
Web SDK Simulator (WSS)
- Exact rendering of your application can only be achieved by running your application on a device. The WSS provides a test enviornment and should not be expected to simulate a device perfectly. Final validation should be done on the device.
- Flash content may have rendering issues or not render at all. The WSS uses the Flash player which is on your PC, while the app running on the Nokia device will have Flash Light. You can access additional information regarding Flash on Nokia devices here.
- On Windows XP, some users have issues with simulated video is not playing.
- Using variables called "map" may cause the web app not to render correctly in the WebSDK Simulator.
- There are occasions that after clicking a link with href="#" a user cannot close the widget from the window.close() functionality.
- In rare cases, there have been reports of the Web SDK Simulator not running, but when adding openssl library with VC++ the Simulator started working. If you get a error screen directly after clicking "Nokia Web SDK Simulator" there might be msvcr80.dll missing on your system. You can get it as part of the VC++ 2005 redist package from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/confirmation.aspx?familyId=200b2fd9-ae1a-4a14-984d-389c36f85647&displayLang=en
- PS 2.0 API's run on WRT 1.1.
Web SDK Web Developer Channel (WDC)
- There have been instances where the Add-on's don't show in the WDC. Relaunching the WDC will resolve this issue.
Debugging with Web SDK
- Web SDK only supports a single debug instance. If a user launches a debug session from the WDE while the Simulator Web Inspector is running, an error will occur and the Simulator will close.
- When debugging is in progress and the app is stopped at a breakpoint, if the user closes Web Inspector or the web app, it will close the Simulator.
Uninstall Web SDK
- The uninstall feature in the menu item will remove almost everything. If you want to do a complete and uninstall, you will also need to delete the following folders:
- C:\Program Files\Nokia Web SDK 1.0
- for Windows 7: C:\Users\username\WebSDKWorkspace and C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Nokia\WebSDKSimulator
- for Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\username\WebSDKWorkspace and C:\Documents and Settings\username\AppData\Local\Nokia\WebSDKSimulator
